Welcome to....Connectianuary?

Reader,

Usually around the first of the month, I send out a "here's what to send" kind of email.

This is kind of like that.

But first I want to take a second to say thanks. Thank you for being here in this little corner of the internet with me.

My word for the year is SIMPLICITY. With that, I want to remind you how simple it is to really do this email marketing thing. (But please, notice I said simple, not easy.)

The secret to email marketing isn't getting the template right. It's not finding your creativity. It's not making the right offers. It's not even segmentation. (Even though I absolutely delight in the beauty of segmentation.)

First and foremost, it's connection.

Building relationships...even if you've never looked the person in the eye.

That's why, I dubbed this month "Connectianuary". (Connection + January...in case I'm not as clever as I think I am.)

The shiny new templates I just added to the Email Express Lane portal are perfect for meeting your subscribers where they're at.

Whether they just came into your world during Q4 and don't really know your brand ...or they're a long time customer who just wants to know what to expect from you this year..

There's a fill-in-the-blanks template for that.

And to double down on this Connectianuary thing:

I'm hosting an Opt-In and Welcome Flow workshop around the middle of the month.

In my humble opinion, the single most important moment of the customer relationship is their first experience with you.

Your Welcome Email.

Get it right and they'll slide effortlessly from "stranger on the internet" to "new favourite customer". Get it wrong and you're fighting an uphill battle to build trust and connection. And that's tough to come back from.

How confident are you that you're setting the right tone out of the gate?

In the workshop, I'm going to share some of the best welcome emails I've ever laid eyes on... AND help EELers whip their Welcome Emails into shape.

It's kind of poetic, ya know? Starting the year focusing on the start of the customer relationship....

Ok, I gotta boogie. I'm putting the finishing touches on something cool that I'll share with you tomorrow.

Until then, keep it simple.

XO

Nichelle

P.S. Reply and let me know your word for the year. I'm working on a theory and I want to know if I'm on the right track.
